Big Tim is a switch for the lighting and an art object based on Korea’s traditional thought which is idea of Doggabi and Yulgok Yi-yi’s Yigi theory. Two different objects, Muuli and Big Tim, exist as art toy themselves, but when used together they change into a light and a switch. Fenomeno led the design and development of whole product.
Product design
「 We get light when God answer us with sacrifice. 」
Big Tim usually functions as an aesthetic object across our life. The illuminating body, shaped as an UFO, represents the divine revelation of God. And this Cow Timothy is offered as a sacrifice for God’s answer. And we get light in return.
The principle of magnetic levitation and the sensor implements simultaneous phenomena which is the light responses to the act of lifting at the same time. This can functionally respond to the sensors in the illuminating body. Using magnetic levitation, we studied the structure and function and designed the light to be on when the sacrifice is lifted simultaneously. Lamp and sacrifice, those two different objects interpreted the story of Doggabi of Korea by showing the state of staying together at night but staying apart during the day.
“Yi and Gi (Thought and Energy) seems to be together but distinction is that Yi is more closer to intangible things while Gi is more closer to tangible set of things.
From intangible to tangible is Yi and from tangible to intangible is Gi”
Yulgok Yi-yi. Yigi theory.
