This project was designed crafts products to capture the winter of Gang-won and memorable moments. These souvenirs are made to be used for not only the just commemoration but products for modern use such as curling pouch of Winter Olympics motif (冬:winter), acorn tea container by using natural materials from Kwan-dong province (東:east) and Je-gi reinterpreting traditional play (童:child).

The 2016 PyeongChang Winter Olympics souvenir project is a project aimed to promoting and globalizing Korean culture by producing selective Winter Olympics products held in PyeongChang Korea 2018. Acorn tea container

the acorn tea container is from the word Dong (East and are designed to show locality by using natural materials from Kwan-dong province.

Acorn is one of the most popular crops in Gangwon-do and is used in various purpose in everyday life, not only used as a food conditioner, but also as a toy or ornament. Bit of entertainment was intended in lid by shifting the location of grip of lid. It has 3 different size that can be used in different purpose. the word Dong means give enough accessibility to the craft mand. It is one of winter sports item of Korea. Je-gi is one of most popular traditional winter sport that represent life of Gangwon-do.

Je-gi

Curling pouch

Curling pouch, captured the idea from Chinese character “dong’ (means “winter”) motivated by the winter sports in particular. The color of curling and curling stone has visually very strong properties and these perspectives transferred into the product that are very practical, not just a kind of souvenir. The pouch is made in three different sizes to accommodate a wide variety of demands. The zipper of curling pouch is designed and made according to the ratio scale of the actual curling stone, and designed to give sort of entertainment when zipper is being closed and opened.
